Soy Delites 100% Soy Wax Candles

Tuesday, July 07, 2009

Who doesn't love candles releasing enjoyable fragrances throughout a home? Heck, I know Yankee Candles has gotten quite a few of my dollars these past few years as I buy them as gifts or for home-use. But did you know some candles release toxins? I have no clue which brands - I hope not Yankee Candles for the sake of my family! But some candles have lead in the wicks or they degrade air quality. You can learn more at the CND.

That's why I was delighted to learn about an EcoFriendly option - Soy Delites 100% Soy Wax Candles!

Now, you know how sometimes you buy fragrant candles ... and when you burn them you wonder where the smell is? It's so faint and unnoticeable. Well, not with Soy Delites! I had the opportunity to try the Vanilla and Cucumber Melon. The Vanilla was so sweet! It was definitely my favorite of the two, as it allowed me to type and work with a wonderful vanilla fragrance besides me. The Cucumber Melon I had in the kitchen, where it gave off a fun, fruity smell every time I walked by.

These soy candles are handmade in Austin, Texas using 100 percent natural soybean wax and cotton wicks. No metal here! I love the signature glasses that mine came in - reusable too! But they also come as tealights, votives and travel tins. What's cool about the signature glasses is that they are textured to create a prism-like light effect on the walls and ceiling while the candle is burning. It makes it a fantastic gift!

BENEFITS OF SOY WAX
Soy wax candles are biodegradable, emit less soot and chemicals and they burn slower. They last almost 50 percent longer than traditional candles. That's saving you money!

There are 20 scents to choose from. I am traditional, so I really do love Vanilla. But Patchouli and Orange Vanilla also catch my attention!

Soy Delites is giving one Buzz reader a chance to win either a set of votives or a 9 ounce candle in a signature glass!

MANDATORY, FIRST ENTRY: Visit Soy Delites and tell me your favorite fragrance.

    Another benefit of soy candles:

Soy candles do not emit the soot that are characteristic of paraffin candles. While the combustion of paraffin candles produces a considerable amount of soot, the combustion of soy wax candles produces little to no soot (1). Not only do paraffin candles leave black residue on the containers they were burned in, but prolonged use of these candles can stain your walls, ceilings, curtains or blinds, and even carpets or rugs (2).

Another benefit of soy wax is that it is a biodegradable product. This means it cleans up easily with just soap and warm water. You no longer have to worry about the mess paraffin makes when cleaning up your candleholders.

Hard to choose a favorite, but I'll go with the Fresh Air scent. Thanks!

My favorite scent is vanilla. Basic but you can't go wrong.

Soy has a much slower melting point so soy candles last between 30 and 50 percent longer! So you save money and you get longer lasting candles.
