Top 10 Reasons I am Excited to Stay Home with My Family this Coming Weekend

Thursday, July 23, 2009

Well, peeps, I am obviously not going to BlogHer. And although I would have loved to meet up with some fabulous moms, bloggers and companies, I just couldn't stray too far from my little boys.

I chose to be a SAHM so I could raise my boys - good days and bads! Whether my 3 year old is telling me he loves me ... or telling me to be nice. Or whether my 1.5 is giving me kisses ... or biting my legs. Besides, no one really has the patience to watch my boys when I am gone! As great as my hubby is ... potty training is not his forte and that is the territory we have recently entered with my littlest one.

So I was thrilled to find out that Cozi was sponsor 15 moms not going to BlogHer with $100 each. All I have to do is say the Top 10 Reasons I am excited to Stay Home with My Family this Weekend!

Comments would rock ... since that is how they are choosing winners. So just tell me why you are happy to stay home, what you are doing this weekend, what you think of my ideas ... anything!

10. Clean Sheets - I don't want to ever put a black light on hotel sheets! Ewwww...
9. Get organized with Cozi!
8. Potty Training - I don't want to disrupt our progress!
7. Reading Mom of 2 Boys, Wife of 1!
6. Good home cooking!
5. No long flight touching icky armrests!
4. Going Shopping at the Outlet Mall with my sister, mom and kids - while the men go golfing!
3. We are seeing Thomas Live this Saturday!
2. Hugs and Kisses from my Hubby!
1. Hugs and Kisses from my boys! My two boys are my top reason I am happy to stay home!

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT FOR THE MOM BUZZ!

Remember, please leave some comment love so I can win a NON BLOGHER SPONSORSHIP! Tell me why you are happy to stay home, what you are doing this weekend, what you think of my ideas ... anything!

Good Luck Erin. I chose to not go to blogher because I didn't want to leave my kiddos either. And I have to be home to tuck Davis into bed at night. Let me not forget hubby either. I hate being away from him

  3. Dana said...

Potty training is a road I am about to travel down too. Plus, you get real kisses from your boys when you wake up in the morning..not just smoochie sounds over the phone!
    Good Luck!

I'm working on Potty Training with Mariah as well. Imagine giving your child a break for a few days...you would have to start all over again.

  6. FranticMommy said...

I am with you! I would LOVE the opportunity to network with some fab Moms..but I am NOT going to Blogher for these reasons:
    1.Potty training-we're on a roll..I don't want to loose momentum!
    2. I am broke, brokey, McBroke. Plus I would rather use the money to get my home business rolling. Plus by our 6 year old a new bike.
    3. I am like Dorothy in The Wizard Of Oz "there's no place like home (click, click) there's not place like home".
    4. The though of not seeing my babies for more than a day would make this Mommy darn near turn inside out from worry!

  7. ktales said...

    Hmm...

I totally forgot about #8, the potty training! I'm in the process too, I am reminded every morning when my daughter goes "pee-pee" on the floor. Imagine the room charges I would receive for that at the hotel??

  22. Kimberly said...

As odd as it sounds clean sheets are ALWAYS wonderful...especially if you get them on read quick while they are still warm and you can roll around in your bed before it cools. ;-)

  23. GiGi Belts said...

Before my husband and I switched roles I loved staying at home with my kids. Even though he's Mr. Mom now, I still get to hear the day to day events, he even sends me videos and pictures throughout the day.

I love all the reasons why you love to stay home. I'm just glad I got my daughter potty trained, Mr. Mom wasn't too good with that.

  24. Frantic Holly said...

We're working on the potty too but thats not one of my reasons for staying home. LOL

  25. Irene said...

Aw...your post made me feel better about not going--Thank-you! I agree...being away from my kids would be just too hard. And I HATE flying. And I love my own sheets. No potty training going on...but kisses and hugs from time to time, LOL, and I wouldn't want to miss a one when offered!

Loved your list, Erin..have a great weekend!!

  28. Swamp Suzie said...

I concur with the clean sheets! LOL And the better than the clean sheets are the people that snuggle with me between them on Saturday mornings. There's nothing better than sleeping in late with the blinds closed with hubby and and the kids watching Noggin. It's the life.

  29. Badger Momma said...

I agree with all of your reasons. As much as I'd like a break from my kids (I'm with them 24/7 and my husband's been putting in some really late hours), I just couldn't take a trip without them.

  30. Lee Allport said...

Great post Erin Im sure you are preaxching to a large choir. Im loving Blogher and meeting all these amazing women and my husband is loving his time alone with the kiddos potty training and all! Im happy to share all Im learning with you later though!

Hiya! Sounds like you have some absolutely super terrific reasons to stay home!! I'm with you, many of your reasons are MY SAME reasons for staying home, cept I have 3 little munchkins, 2 dogs and a hubby and I want hugs and kisses from all of them! We are staying home hoping the sun stays out long enough so we can all go out together on the lake, do some tubing, boating, swimming, waterskiing, but the weather has been so rainy this season it is hard to plan anything outside! But, enjoy your 10 VERY GOOD reasons to stay home, and best of luck to you!

  63. ethnically ambiguous said...

I you win as well. Alas I wish I wasn't home this weekend, my husband is working so it's just me and my little man & a wicked case of morning sickness -- so I would actually love a fun day trip with the hubby & little man and maybe a reprieve from the icky. Good Luck anyway, enjoy your boys!!

  64. Larky Lady said...

There are many reasons I would love to get away, but I think flying is the biggest reason I would stay home. It's not the actual "flying" it's how they treat you like a criminal in the security, for a service you are paying a heck of a lot for!

  65. momof3dolls said...

My reason for staying home is I work weekend nights so I can be with the kids during the week! Good Luck, Erin! :D

  66. The Hutson Family said...

I had a stay-at-home weekend myself, and I did a few of the same things you did -- went to the outlet stores with some friends, worked on getting my bills and paperwork organized, tried out a few new recipes from an Indian cookbook a friend loaned me, and had a mini movie marathon last night with a couple friends. I think you're right - traveling can be great, but avoiding some of the hassles (potentially suspect hotel sheets, long lines and delays, etc.) can be a good thing as well. Hope you had a terrific weekend with your family and friends, and good luck with the contest!

  76. Heather said...

I love my sheets. High thread count. Clean. Yummy. :-)
This weekend... Hmmmm. I went to two birthday parties yesterday. Both were pool parties, and both had sweet stuff to eat. I ate cake and brownies. How awesome is that? I also cleaned up the mess on my porch this weekend (not fun), caused by lots of 65 mph wind. Broke my table top into thousands of pieces. So, good and bad. I won't complain too much.

  77. makeetis said...

I wish you luck on the potty training. I am trying to do it myself with my son. I just stayed at home this past weekend and watched movies with my children. I wish you lots of luck and hope you win.....

I love that you are choosing your boys over anything else. This time will be gone before you know it. My youngest son is turning 18 this year. I have 2 granddaughters who I have helped with especially while their dad was serving in Iraq. I have NEVER regretted giving up my career to raise them but I can tell you I do regret the time I left my oldest son with so many sitters while I worked. Jobs and hobbies can be fulfilling but the love of the children-there's nothing like it.

Your reasons for staying home are great! I just want to relax this weekend coming up and we're getting some crabs, first crabs of the summer. That's a great reason for me to stay home; oh, and maybe get some things done too. Thank you!

Going to the water park with my family was WAY more fun than going to Chicago & dealing with all the drama! :-)

I am not going to BlogHer either, I wasn't aware that there were any Non-BlogHer sponsorships out there, wish I had known that. I'm not going this year because I just started blogging so recently this year and I found out about BlogHer too late to get in. But I'm all over it next year.

I am happy to stay home because I get homesick after just a few hours-usually before I get to my destination. Good luck!

Thomas live? As in Thomas the Train? My brother would die if he knew there was such a show. He is a 5 year old FANATIC.

Those little ones grow up so fast..I watched my own grow up and now I am watching my grandkids. You can't ever get those days back! I'm not much of a travel person anyway so I'd be happy just hearing those who went blog about it.

I love clean sheets! We spent the weekend running around, so I'm looking forward to a couple calmer days this week.

Your Reason for staying home for the weekend sounds great! Staying home some time is the best and spending time with the kids! I bet your kids loved Thomas!

This weekend I worked a 12 hour shift on saturday and then Sunday I went to BOTH training camp practices for the Buffalo Bills! Sure i got a little sunburnt on my shins (i wore capris) but it was so much fun to see some football!

Hugs and kisses from my son is my top reason too. And now that he is 7 years old I have to get them while I still can. lol.

I like being at home because I know it's clean, comfortable, and a safe environment. I never feel the same anywhere else. It's where I can wear sweat pants and feel just fine.

My favorite reason for staying home wasn't on your list. I love bedtime. I love the clean way the kids smell after their baths; I love the way the end of their hair curls when their hair is still wet; I love reading to them before bed and having them cuddle up next to me; and I love looking in on them after they've fallen asleep - especially when it's been a ... uh... shall we say... less than wonderful day. Somehow, seeing them sleeping like little angels just washes all the bad stuff away so we can start with a clean slate the next day.

I truly have to agree with the clean sheets, as I used to work at a Holiday Inn and I know WAY too much about how those hotels work, lol!
And hey, hugs and kisses ARE the best reason to stay home!

    Relaxation
    Togetherness
Practicing Pretending Skills (our house is a castle)
Plus we can pretend burgers are fit for a king!
    Not getting lost in traffic
    No maps
    Save on gas
    Sleep in my own bed
No timetables or schedules to keep
Just being in our own little comfort zone.

These are my reasons for staying home.

Sounds like heaven. I love being home with my family on the weekends or anywhere with my family for that matter. Funny how once you have children you don't need to do much to enjoy time with them :)

The top ten reason I am excited to stay home this weekend is that I had fun taking my grandson to our local park pool.

    Good Luck!!

I happy to be GOING HOME this weekend, kinda :)

We live permanently in Montana, but are temporarily living in Oklahoma for a job hubby is doing. Right now I'm in Denver...on my way home in my little blue Beetle. I'm not happy about it cause hubby couldn't come this time. But I'm happy about it cause I'm leaving this Beetle at home in the garage and picking up a brand spankin' new red one!!
