My 3 year old is proof that the toddler, waterproof apron provides protection! We used it for craft time and cooking at home. It was comfortable and I just loved the fun, blue, Cat in the Hat pattern. (You can find A LOT of Dr. Seuss options at Bumkins!) What really rocks is that the vibrant pattern on the apron will last, since it is stain resistant. It has 3 huge pockets to hold my son's essentials. Think markers, chalk, paint brushes, sponges and more! It is made to fit ages 2 to 6 and has an adjustable neck and waist tie, which accomodated his teeny size. Plus, when we were all done with our creations (edible and inedible), all I had to do was throw the apron into the wash! You can't get much easier with clean-up!
Safety wise, I know I was relieved to hear it is PVC, BPA and Phthalate Free. Plus it is made in the good ol' USA!
The toddler apron is perfect for home and I like the mobility it gives his arms. But if you want even more protection - from sleeve to knee - you might want to consider the Art Smock (for ages 2 - 5 years). And for older kids, there is a child apron made for ages 6 and older.
